Munchkin quest

"Munchkin Quest! Yes another round of kill the monster, steal the treasure, and stab your buddy... but this time it involves miniatures and a tile-based dungeon map. It is a four player game which includes your munchkin character, your own level counter (yes, no more having to bring your own d10), a pair of your own dice, health and step tokens, a color-sided die, and a single d10. It's great fun! Players start in the entrance tile and choose one of four directions to advance. The designated map-maker chooses any tile to go there. It's his (or her) choice... from "padded cell" to "room of short jokes"! Of course, every new room has a monster which is assigned a color by rolling the colored die. The player's figure is placed in that room ready to fight unless monster card or player say otherwise. Combat is new, with added bonuses to your level and a die roll so even if the monster is higher level, you DO have a chance folks! Now instead of just getting level ten to win you have to get level ten AND head back to the entrance to fight the dreaded boss monster. It's drawn from the top of the monster deck, instantly given level twenty and retains all the properties of the monster card drawn. If you can beat this monster, withstanding everyone else's attempts to stop you, you are the triumphant winner of the game!"

game price is around fifty dollars. expansions include looking for trouble, portal kombat, and extra parts to enhance your gaming experience.

Munchkin quest

Overall a great playing experience! I liked: - Dungeon tiles. New map every time = much more variety = much more bang for your buck = much more enjoyment. - easy to learn (true to munchkin) - funny. Honestly it was! - Winning/losing based on dice + level/items - new level counters (no more accidentally knocking dice around) I didn't like: - the lack of direct player vs player. I must be jaded by runebound because part of me wanted to go run up and smack the other munchkin. - requirement to buy expansions to flush out the game to 6 people - no traps?! that would have been perfect for the dungeon-based game! - the seemingly pointless health counters Definitely fun and a worthwhile investment for the casual gamer who wants to kick back for a couple hours, drink a few beers (root or otherwise) and get your munchkin on. I actually think I prefer this to the card game.
