Also, to add to Shawn's commentary, I brought my own game to the Open Game Day which I've been spreading the news about in the forums lately which is Decipher's Fight Klub.

I do agree w/Shawn in the sense that the room was a bit of a zoo...especially in terms of the miniature gaming. I guess they've really just gotta have those tables. ;p

As for myself, I played some 5-card draw w/Nate and one of his friends and later on played Star Munchkin w/Tyson and a friend of his. Got pretty close, but in the end I won that match by looking for trouble against a Lvl 1 Chair...lol.

I liked the environment I saw in there and hope it'll be bigger and better next time much like Shawn's already shooting for.

Entry Four:

We approach London after some years in the wilderness. It seems strange to be joining civilization again after so much time. The city is so crowded filled with people. There is a tourney being held in a few days, bringing in all sorts of crowds to watch.

I am apprehensive. This is Mithras’ city. We must introduce ourselves, as a matter of tradition and courtesy. What will be the result of that meeting? I can only imagine. As soon as we are settled, Erick and the Father go into town to see the Bishop. I receive a summons that I am wanted at the cathedral. I am surprised. I did not think the Bishop would openly consort with us. I am unprepared for the meeting that takes place.

As I enter the cathedral, I am brought immediately to a room where a man awaits me. His hair is blond and flowing. I know at once I am in the presence of Saulot. To be in his presence, even once is a great honor. He is rarely seen nowadays. He can communicate with his childer, via dreams and visions. I am stunned that he would even know of my existence. We talk of the tourney. He tells me that one of the young knights, Lord Gordon Bellamy, son of the Duke of Essex has entered. Lord Bellamy’s father is a boor and a drunk. His mother, Lady Essex, is the power. I am to befriend this knight and help him. He needs to survive the tourney and do well. Saulot has foreseen that Gordon has important tasks in the future that he must complete. He will build a large tower here in London, which is pivotal to history.

My audience with Saulot ends. I instruct Erick to find Lord Essex and his family and issue an invitation to dine with us in two days time. The next task is to seek out the Prince and get permission to enter the city. I take the entire entourage with me to the castle, where the King resides. We are outside, when we are approached by a stooped, cloaked figure. I inform him that we are here to see Mithras. This soul is the ferryman to the moat. He brings us in and sends us on our way. We travel through many empty halls until we reach a chamber. There is a man seated there upon a throne. He is surrounded by six courtiers. I can feel the presence of this man bearing down upon me. He only would have to command it and we would be on our knees. I introduce myself and the entourage. He smiles when he hears my name and asks how his northern holdings are doing?

My heart lurches-he is mad about Lord Randolph. Mithras laughs and says that Randolph had bitten off more than he could chew. He then asked if I was going to enter into the Midnight Tournaments? In three weeks time, a tournament for the undead knights is to be held. I replied that I had not planned upon it. He seemed surprised and said that the Princess of Anjou was the prize. The princess! He also informs me that there should be no interference with the regular tourney. Mithras dismisses us and turns away.

The ferryman asks if we are interested in entertainment? He suggests the Pumpkin Patch as a place to go. The other squires ask if they may enter the tourney? I have no problem with them entering if they so desire. The librarian and one of the men-at-arms go the Patch and it specializes in a degrading form of entertainment. Humans or ghouls were being chased about by kindred, to see how long they would last. Returning from that place, the librarian saw a spider demon. He informed me that only a few clans would be able to summon such a creature. A Tzmicze, an Assamite vizer or perhaps a Lasombra could summon it from the Abyss.

I am resting in the tent when a page comes calling. Enter one of the ladies that sat with Mithras. She introduces herself as Innocensia from the Almahad Empire. She asks if I am to enter the Midnight Tourney. She says the competition will come from two places- Beravos a Brujah Germanic lord. He has not been beaten in 3years. The other is Hassan, an Arabic lord. She wants me to enter the tourney and win the prize, in exchange for help with some problem that I might have. I tell her that I wish that Lord Bellamy do well in the tourney. She tells me she will contact me in two days time for my answer.

There is much activity over the next day, getting ready for our meeting with Lord Essex and his family. Erick gets our tents moved up to a more prominent circle and has the finest food and drink prepared for our guests. Right before the Bellamys were due, a blond man runs in. He hands me a long package, says I’m sorry and leaves. It was Saulot. I unwrap the package. It is a sword of the finest order. Lycus examines the sword and sees a man crafting it. His third eye is wide open and glowing, pouring his essence into the sword. It is daylight while he is crafting it and he is showing no ill effects. The sword is like sunlight to Kindred flesh. I can only imagine why he gave such an item to me.

The Bellamys appear. Lord Essex is a boor and a cad of the worst order. He began drinking from the start and never stopped until he passed out. His wife seemed charming but was ill at ease, obviously embarrassed by her husband. Erick entertained the son, making sure that his wine glass was full. The captain of the arms was guarded and said little. I asked the Lady for a dance. She reproached me and said that it would not be proper. I told her only that I wanted to hear her voice as I had not heard my own language in many months. The musicians were playing a simple dance and she acquiesced. She thanked me kindly for the dance but that she would pay for it later. She did not elaborate.

During the meal, Petrovich notices, the Captain of the arms had a coin in his hand. The image on the coin seems to be speaking to him. Petrovich leaves to inspect the perimeter. I look up to see him waving me outside I realize, after a bit that I am the only one who seems him. I excuse myself. He tells me about the coin and informs me that our tent is being watched.

The Bellamys take their leave after Lord Essex passed out. The Lady Ettienne thanks me for a lovely evening and I wish Gordon good fortune in the tourney. Petrovich notices a man watching our tent and speaks with him. This man of Arabic descent wishes for information regarding Saulot. He tells Petrovich were he is staying. I send Marcus and Tomasino to the inn and not much is learned. Petrovich follows them and sees Innocensia behind the bar. She goes upstairs after the man, after he leaves the table.

In the morning Erick goes to Mass and sees the Bishop. The Bishop has been gifted with a large amount of money to rebuild Westminster Abbey. I am discussing with the group whether we should accept Innocensia’s proposal. During this conversation, Saulot sends me a vision. Gordon will found the bloodline of “the Lion”. I now know Gordon must not only live, but he must do well at the tourney. We all agree that Gordon has been protected as much as possible. We all agree that it seems strange that Innocensia would trade helping a human, even an important one, for the Princess of Anjou. We agree to decline. Innocensia appears later and I inform her of my decision. She tells me I must not decline without seeing what she can do. She can alter time somehow. She could make time stand still. I do not pretend to understand how, but she is an unusual Cannite to be sure. I regretfully decline and pray that I made the right choice.

The day of the Tourney dawns bright. Erick goes down to the field and is asked to sit in the Bellamy’s box. Gordon does well and unhorses his man. Later in the day, Erick is down at the wounded tent, when he sees the Bellamy carriage. Gordon gets out and kisses his mother. Erick sees her face and it terribly bruises. He goes to the carriage and congratulates Gordon on his victory. He greets Ettienne and takes her hand. He gets in the carriage at her invitation and heals her. In the process some sort of bond between them is formed. The next days of the tourney, have Erick healing the injured with Ettienne at his side.

One evening, a page arrives from Mithras. He hands me a document, that states I must reign my man in. The affair between Erick and Lady Essex has not gone unnoticed and people are talking. I inform Erick that he must stop the relationship. Gordon continues to do well and makes the semi-finals. He wins his match but at a costly price-a broken arm. He cannot wield a lance with his arm in that condition. However, being unable to compete due to injury is no shame and we accomplish what we set out to do. Gordon had survived and done well. I go to see him in the injury tent. He is upset over his bad luck. I consol him and tell him that there is always next year and he should be proud of his feat. I ask to look at his arm. He asks plaintively whether I can perform a miracle? That question gives me pause. I can heal him so that he can compete, but everyone knows how injured he is. If he appears healed tomorrow, people will talk.

I am torn. I cannot lie to him, yet I cannot help him in the way that he wants. I tell him that I have been told I have healing in my hands and I will try to relieve him of as much of the pain as I can. I blindfold him, so that he cannot see me as I work. I heal him as much as I dare. He will be good as new in two weeks. When I unmask him, he tests his arm and says that I must have magic. I only smile and wish him well in the future.

A page from the House of Essex arrives after I return. Lady Ettiene extends an invitation to me and my entourage to visit Essex after the tourney. This provokes much discussion about where we go after the tourney and whether visiting Essex will create problems. Erick obviously has feelings for this woman. He has told me that she has written him about her husband having an accident and then they could be together. Brother Tomasino went to see the Bishop about this, and found to his surprise that the Bishop is pragmatic man. The Lord of Essex is a drunk. It would not be a great misfortune if he died. As far as the Bishop is concerned, as long as Ettienne is not plotting his murder, she has done no wrong.

So we have a woman in love with a man that did her a kindness. Erick is probably the only man who has not treated her as property. He obviously has feelings for her and the benefits of prospective alliance is great. If he were to marry her, she would have to be told the truth about us. What then?

Does anyone have any serious reservations about going to Essex for the Winter? I think that we cannot decline very easily. We need to protect Gordon and his bloodline and visiting him would be the best to gain a foothold there. Additionally, since he is destined to be an important personage in his own right, gaining his favor now, would not be a bad thing. Additionally, if we become the protectors of his lineage, we will carry this alliance down through history long after Gordon has passed on. If no one has other suggestions, I will write to the Chapter house for further instructions.

It's a mix of the two. One is like an LCG where you get the same cards in every Kilo. A Kilo includes 10 rares, 1 of every uncommon and 3 of every common. The rares in One are the characters and The Drop, so it's easy to make whatever deck you like. I'll explain more about The Drop in the review I'll write eventually here. Get 3 Kilos and you have a whole set.

Two and Three take a CCG approach w/a slightly different twist. The Kilo approach is still the same, but the rares are random instead. Basically, you can end up w/characters, rare support cards/effects and the like. For this reason, you're meant to start out with getting One since it introduces you to the game. This was also the set I used for demoing the game @ PaD when I was there a few days ago.

The driving factor for getting Kilos of Two and Three are what are called the Black Beauties which you get for when you get three Kilos of Two or Three. You don't have to get them all in the same order...it can be done over time.

For Two's Black Beauty, it features Hero and Villain effects which feature the Morph keyword on the left and right skirmishes. What this means is if you so choose, you can morph those skirmishes to become the same as your opponent's. The synergy lies with the Dominate keyword which was introduced in Three.

The Dominate keyword is featured in effects for left/right skirmishes--I have yet to see one for the center--and the way it works is as follows: If there's a Dominate keyword on the side where both the skirmishes match up, then whomever played that will automatically win that skirmish. If not, then it will still add 1 to that skirmish since it does say Dom1nate on the card itself.

As for Three's Black Beauty, it includes the first partner which is John Connor who can be included in either a Sarah Connor or Arnold deck. Arnold's in Three and Sarah's coming in Four.

The other card featured is called The Edge which is the 2nd universal card--besides The Drop--which includes some powerful effects which can be used as long as they're face up.

Well, rolling for those six backgrounds brought me to tears on a couple of occasions just from laughing too hard. I agree with you that it's a good starting point. All the 3.5 stuff is supposed to be more or less compatible with pathfinder. I think that's why paizo developed pathfinder, to keep all the people that don't want to go to 4e something to upgrade to without making all their source books obsolete and have to re-purchase them again for 4e. It also lets developers keep writing for a live system that is OGL. At least I think pathfinder is OGL, it's still based on the D20 stuff...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my first Pathfinder game.
