Open Gaming Schedule for 8/28 at PaD
FGSNC News
Gail writes:

This is the schedule for our open gaming day at Pair A Dice.

12pm: Open Gaming Begins
1pm: Call of Cthulhu the LCG (gail)
3pm: Hunter: the Vigil (shawn)
5pm: Munchkin (tyson)
7pm: Game of Thrones (james)

Of course, there will be other tables open, so if you are not interested in the scheduled game, you are, of course, welcome to play another game that interests you.

Pair A Dice has a wonderful selection of games behind the front counter that can be borrowed for in store playing. So if you are not playing CoC, feel free to check out the selection and get something else going.

Please also keep in mind, there is another game being played that day that is not affiliated with FGS, who will be taking up one table, with the rest being reserved for FGS, so lets all be respectful and courteous of the other players there.

Also note the earlier start time of 12pm. The store closes at 9pm, so to get in a good day of gaming, we elected for the earlier start time. Hope to see everyone there! All are welcome to come and join us for a day of fun!

Review: Munchkin Quest
FGSNC News

Tyson wrote up a review of his new purchase: Munchkin Quest here in the Reviews section. Please feel free to add your own comments, we should try to build up a repository of review information if we can. I find that I value the opinions of people I know more than reviews by strangers (like on BGG).

HarnCon: An upcoming RPG con in San Diego
Upcoming Event
Dan_Bell writes:

Hi folks,
At the recent KingdomCon, I was asked by one of your members to post this on your website here:

I am hosting HARNCON 2010.

HarnCon VIII will be held in San Diego on Friday July 30th, 2010 to Sunday August 1st, 2010.

The Con will be held at the San Diego Downtown Holiday Inn:
http://www.hisandiegodowntown.com/index.php

The Con itself will be held on the 16th floor, in the Skyline Room: http://www.hisandiegodowntown.com/gallery/large/12.jpg

For more info see: http://www.lythia.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=43

Harn is a RPG that is known for its detail. It can be rules generic (Game Towne in Old Town stocks a bunch of Harn stuff. I don't know if Pair-A-Dice games does, I have dropped off some free stuff with them and Game Empire before to give out. On the web, search for "Columbia Games" products on RPGNOW or DriveThruRPG to download the free stuff or see the samples. Also www.lythia.com has a ton of fan made downloads.)

The Harn community (there are about 300 core folks worldwide) has a HarnCon every year and this is our eighth. (They rotate locations, past cons were held in Vancouver, Boston, Washington DC, Kansas City, etc. They also have cons in Europe called IviniaCon.)

HarnCon San Diego is the weekend after ComicCon. Please post on the HarnForum or here if you are interested (the con schedule is on the HarnForum). We would love to have some local folks drop by!

Thanks, Dan

Open Gaming nights
FGSNC News
Paul writes:

Welcome everyone! Currently the FGS has been meeting every Friday night in Oceanside. (for more information PM Paul) We are currently speaking to our friends at Pair-A-Dice Games to have an Open Gaming Night on a specific Saturday night every month (i.e. every 2nd or 3rd Saturday evening) Once we come up with a schedule we will let you know and it will reflect on our events calendar as well as on Pair-A-Dice Games event calendar.  If someone wants to bring/play a certain game on any open gaming night one only needs to post what it is they want to play and number of players that can join in.  We will also try to showcase different games when we can.

Regards,

Paul

Foodmachine Charity Event 12/19
Upcoming Event

Our local Press Ganger Paul is putting on a Foodmachine charity tournament on 12/19 so get your Warmachine and Hordes armies (Mark II, please bring one 35 point and one 50 point list) and come prepared with lots of canned food to donate. As an entry fee, players bring donations of canned and staple goods to be donated to the local food bank/pantry. A unique tournament format is used to encourage donations during the event.

Privateer Press, the creators of the Warmachine and Hordes game systems and miniature lines, provides unique award support for the event including special prizes for the tournament winner and the most generous donor. Additionally, a prize will be award to the location that hosts the most successfully event in terms of goods donated. The Thrall Harvest is national in scope with charity tournaments happening all across the country annually from November to January.

Please see our forum thread for more details as well as the calendar event entry. Beyond the entry fee of an as yet to be determined number of cans you can spend more cans to re-roll your bad dice or force your opponent to re-roll their good dice. This is not a competetive setting, we are out to have fun and collect as much food as possible for our neighbors who aren't as fortunate as we are. If you want to buy a tourney win by bringing hundreds of cans of food please do!

Everyone is welcome,  all donations will be for the North County Foodbank. Non-perishable food or cash are welcome. Pair-A-Dice Games (the host for this event) will be offering discounts for anyone who donates food all that weekend!!
